Specialist Programs

Selective Academic Program (Previously ATP)
Students ranked in the top 2% of Year 7 by DET are offered placements in specialised courses in mathematics /science and the humanities. Academic extension and enrichment are promoted through these exciting and innovative programs.

Agriculture
The school farm provides an outstanding education facility to support courses in agriculture and as a resource for practical scientific research. The school currently offers two specialist agriculture programs, Special Agriculture 1 (General Science Program) and Special Agriculture 2 (Science Extension Program). Athletics
Kelmscott Senior High School is currently the only Specialised Athletics school in W.A. The course covers all aspects of track and field, including coaching, officiating, participating and theory components. Year 8 students are required to attand a skills test to determine their eligibility.

Music
The school music program is recognised for excellence across the metropolitan area. Students have the opportunity to study music and drama to Year 12 tertiary level and to participate in the school bands and choir. The school boasts three bands, three choirs, together with a number of smaller ensembles.

School Based Programs

Soccer
The program is being delivered by a teacher with Level 2 coaching credentials and is sponsored by the Armadale Soccer Club. Students enter the program though an interview and a skills test.

Equestrian
The equestrian program operates through the school farm with theory and horse management being provided through school farm resources.  The riding of horses involves student excursions to local pony clubs after school hours. Kelmscott Senior High School enters teams in interschool equestrian events with both individuals and teams winning state championships.

Languages
The school specialises in foreign languages with students being able to study Japanese, French and German to Year 12 level. A number of students studying languages are involved in short term exchange programs to Japan, Germany and France.

Cisco Networking Academy
The Cisco Network Acadamy program helps students develop valuable ICT (information and communication technology) skills to increase access to opportunities for career advancement. The Cisco Discovery course teaches students general and specialised skills in computer software, hardware and networking and leads students towards attaining a globally-recognised certification (CCNA or CCENT).
